Spring Break at Rhodes

Matthew and I got back to Rhodes on Thursday, which gave us just enough time to unwind from our trip before classes started up again. We relaxed, practiced organ (in my case), played with Dremels (in his case), and had a pretty nice time altogether.

First, we finally finished our Settlers of Catan set!!! We've been working on this off-and-on for, oh, about a year and a half. We 3D-printed the tiles, painted them by hand, designed and attached magnetic bases (so they stick together), and finally used the laser cutter to make the borders and number tokens.

Now we have to start another project!

After we decided that instant mac-n-cheese wasn't going to cut it for four days (there's no meal plan over break), we walked two miles to the grocery store, stopping along the way so Matthew could get his hair cut. After going so long without cooking any real meals, I got pretty excited about all the fresh produce available at Kroger and may have gone a little overboard. But I'm still eating yummy clementines and kiwis with breakfast, so all is great!

What a pro.

We may lack real dishes, but at least we have real food!

The cutting board and knives that Florence and Jeremy gave me for Christmas quickly became my most valued possessions as we chopped up all the veggies we'd bought. However, I did have one tiny idea for an improvement, which Matthew was quick to help me execute with the laser cutter:

Now there's an official side for fruit and one for vegetables so I don't need to worry about my strawberries tasting like onions!
