After our long day in Florence, we all slept in quite late on Wednesday and weren't ready to start the day until noon. Of course, here "starting the day" means "grabbing a coffee and relaxing outside for a while", so it was even later before we were really moving, but it's all in the name of cultural immersion!
Since most of the siblings were gone for lunch due to various activities, Mummy, Florence, Matthew, and I had a hassle-free lunch at Cavour so that Matthew could experience restaurant-style pizza rather than pizza al taglio. That, followed by gelato and a chat, ended up stretching well into the afternoon-- it was 3:45 before we knew it!
Since Matthew has such an interest in building things and he has loved all of the artisans here, we called up an archery buddy of Florence's, Albano, and asked to visit his workshop. You see, Albano is a skilled blacksmith who specializes in making medieval swords. (Note, I did steal some of these photos from the family blog so if they look familiar that's why.)
